time to go to the bookstore.

Today, trucks full of Nathan Sellyn's book "Indigenous Beasts" made their way from the Raincoast Books printshop to bookstores across Canada.

Yesterday, fans of the book started receiving their pre-ordered copies from online booksellers in the mail.

As you can see, I've got mine. They didn't keep the clever fake quote on the cover as was originally predicted, but it is still posted on the publisher's promo page for the book.

If you want to read a collection of hard-hitting short fiction stories by a young author with a real voice, then you can order your copy online now. The first person characters in Sellyn's book are incredibly real. It is hard to fathom how an author so young (just 23 now!) has created such believable and often quite disturbing heroes and anti-heroes; some of whom are much older than the author himself. Yet he has, and it's no wonder the book is getting so much publicity.

But don't take my word for it...Listen in on the Raincoast Books podcast, featuring Sellyn reading from one of his more chilling tales. A shorter, preview version can be heard here.

UPDATE: In the comments, Rob asks about his signed copy. A small note on the publishing information page reads: Author photo by Rob Masefield. (photo below)

Don't forget that the launch party for Indigineous Beasts will happen in the next couple of weeks in Vancouver so you NEED to get the book read by then. Bring it with you to get Nate to sign it himself! Rob will be there too. It's hot... no... it's hotter than hot... it's scorching!
